B i o g r a p h y

Anna Myeong is an organist and pianist residing in Madison, Wisconsin. She is a church musician and organist at West Middleton Lutheran Church. She was a Lecturer of Organ at the University of Kansas and organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mission, Kansas prior to moving to Wisconsin in 2016. A native of South Korea, she received the Bachelor of Music degree in organ from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. In the US, she studied organ with James Higdon at the University of Kansas, earning degrees of Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts. In 2006, she attended an organ interpretation course in Romainmôtier, Switzerland and had the opportunity to study with Marie-Claire Alain, Luigi Tagliavini, and Guy Bovet. During her study at the University of Kansas, she was elected a member of Pi Kappa Lambda honorary music fraternity in 2007.

 

As a concert organist, she has performed in North America and Europe, including programs at Washington National Cathedral, Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue and Saint John the Divine in New York City, Princeton University Chapel, Harvard University Adolphus Busch Hall, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, Trinity Church in Boston, Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in New Jersey, Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City, and Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. In 2010, she had an organ recital tour in England that included Westminster Abbey in London, Coventry Cathedral, and St. Paul’s church in Birmingham. She was a featured artist at the American Guild of Organists regional conventions and American Liszt Society National Festival. 

 

Anna’s performance has been broadcast on American Public Media’s Pipedreams. Her CD, Voice of the Organ (2009), received five-star rating from Orgelnieuws in the Netherlands. She published her doctoral dissertation in The American Organists (August 2013) entitled The Music of Jean-Louis Florentz: Ethiopian Liturgy and Musical Characteristics in the Organ Work Debout sur le Soleil, Op. 8.
